The concept of the film, about the competing boats would be good enough to make something of, and they have a great cast. Restored colors reveal previously unnoticed details, such as the “Anderssons Varv” (Andersson’s Shipyard) sign visible at the beginning when Kim Anderzon’s character takes the taxi boat to Stockholm.

That gets you so far.

Mostly unfunny slapstick comedy about a minor boat race on the Swedish Göta Kanal waterway. Inexplicable box office success in its home country, something may have been lost in translation, or maybe you just have to be Swedish. Norwegian Rolv Wesenlund, famous in Scandinavia for his Fleksnes sitcom in the 1970'es appears intermittently.

No-brainer comedy

The story line was very straight forward and easy to follow and contained a lot of no-brainer comedy to a point where it just got boring.

I can't understand why so many known actors even thought the idea to even be visible in a movie like this. What was funny in the first movie? Göta Kanal eller vem drog ur proppen? (Göta Canal or Who Pulled the Plug?) includes compelling extras, such as behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and archival material from the film’s production.

In conclusion, this exceptional Bluray edition of Göta Kanal eller vem drog ur proppen? (Göta Canal or Who Pulled the Plug?) earns a definitive must-have recommendation.

Extremely well-directed humour from Sweden.

There are not many films from Sweden that you can watch as many times as I have watched Göta Kanal. First through Göta Kanal to the finish line in Gothenburg wins.

Silly humor, speed, excitement and some more silly humor 🤭

Hearing ABBA’s “Money, Money, Money” is always fun!

Notably, Svante Grundberg, portraying the mute canoeist, performs a genuinely perilous stunt when his canoe becomes trapped and crushed between two dam gates.

The film’s humor, while potentially perceived as dated by contemporary audiences, generally remains appropriate, even when bordering on potentially sensitive topics.

Göta Kanal eller vem drog ur proppen? (Göta Canal or Who Pulled the Plug?), initially met with critical disdain yet embraced by audiences, mirrors the reception of the recent cinematic success, Ett Sista Race (One Last Race).

Thats the reason why they made an even worse movie than this one. There's no funny situation comedy nor any good verbal jokes. Not me. The story is very thin and the jokes are used and predictable, the ones that ain't, is just plain boring. It's a shame that this one was a big success. The audio has been updated to 5.1 surround sound, available in both DTS and Dolby formats.

There are no rules in this game and the winner ... If you haven´t seen it, do that at once! The special effects are also good, thinking about it being an old Swedish 80's movie. But the jokes aren't funny. There's also some really long stretches in between those, and a refusal to even pretend the plot makes sense that's almost admirable in its nonchalance.

The actors delivers extremely well-timed lines and the witty script makes you crumble of laughter! It's certainly one of the best movies ever produced in this country.
