Sustainable Djurgården

The island of Royal Djurgården has a long and proud history – people have been coming here for over 400 years to enjoy nature and leisurely activities. In order to preserve the unique environment here constant work is required from both businesses and visitors.

Further south on the island, you'll also come across two more art museums, Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde, and The Thiel Gallery.

  • The island is also famed for its many family-friendly attractions. How was it salvaged? Besides the aforementioned Skansen (which hosts a Nordic zoo and two aquariums) you'll find Gröna Lund's Amusement Park and the playful Junibacken.

    At Junibacken you get to experience the world of some of Sweden’s most popular children’s books – a world filled with theatre, music, song and fantasy. Don’t miss the Story Train that takes you through the wonderful world of popular characters and the Moomin exhibition, based on Tove Jansson’s popular stories.

    Skansen – outdoor museum on Djurgården

    Skansen is a unique outdoor museum with a zoological park – here you can experience historical buildings, traditions, Nordic animals and Swedish culture.
